Book Review was born with the branch in 1950. It meets each month except in July at 2:00-4:00PM on the third Monday of the month.

The meetings are held at the homes of members, and the hostess provides dessert. Ten books, fiction or non-fiction, for the following year are selected at a special meeting in June.

Members often dress in costumes related to the topic of the book being reviewed. This is optional, but adds to the fun.

See the list of books for 2016-17.

Dinner Diners offers a chance to try various local restaurants and enjoy the company of other branch members. Members meet at a local restaurant on the second Thursday of each month at 5pm. Diners select the restaurant for the next month’s dinner. If someone has a birthday that month, the others give her/him irreverent birthday cards and many good wishes.

Relax, connect and start the day with a breath of fresh air on our early-morning “Walkabouts”, featuring various parks and trails in the Antelope Valley. This is a great opportunity to get to know other AAUWAV members while experiencing our community’s unique history, flora and fauna. All walks are EASY and informative, and last about 45 minutes. Coffee and mini-muffins served “tailgate style” after the walk. The walks are scheduled on the second Tuesday morning of the month at 7:30am. New members and potential new members are most welcome on the Walkabouts. Bring a buddy!

You either love Scrabble or you hate it, but those who love this endlessly fascinating word game will be thrilled to play once a month with fellow AAUWAV members. Held at a member’s home, the Scrabble group meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 2 to 4pm.

Need to get away? The greater Los Angeles area offers hundreds of museums and cultural centers – not to mention special events – within a day trip’s distance of our valley. Day Trips are arranged by members based on members’ ideas and suggestions. We set a date, and we’re off!
