The Antelope Valley Branch (AAUW AV) provides up to three AVC Scholarships each year to Antelope Valley College graduates continuing their education at four-year institutions.
These include the Madeline Chapman Scholarships, which range from $750 to $2000 each, depending on funds available.
In addition, the family of Beryl Amspoker funds the Beryl Amspoker Scholarship to AVC graduates.
Madeline Chapman and Beryl Amspoker were both charter members of the AAUW Antelope Valley branch when it was founded in 1950.
The first branch president was Madeline Chapman.
June 2021 – Angela Montgomery is our 2021 Beryl Amspoker Scholarship recipient. She is majoring in Film, Television and Digital Media.
We have two Madeline Chapman Scholarship recipients: Michelle Hernandez, who is majoring in History and Education with a focus on Ethnic Studies; and Svetlanna Avetisyan, who plans to complete medical school and become a dermatologist.
June 2020 – Two AAUW Antelope Valley Branch Scholarships were awarded to graduating Antelope Valley College students Rianne Palecpec and Kayleese Williams.
One Amspoker Scholarship was awarded to Zabdi Maynez.
Because of COVID, there was no presentation ceremony and no pictures are available.
